Maggie Caunt started painting with watercolours fifteen years ago. Largely self-taught, she studied for two seminars at Toronto School of Art and, when she moved to Vancouver in 2002, took a weekend acrylics course with Vancouver artist, Barrie Chadwick.

A chance encounter during the Harmony Arts Festival led to Maggie joining Holland Croft Studio in North Vancouver. The mentorship of Dene Croft led Maggie to mature as an artist and introduced her to the magic of oil paints. Maggie is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and member of the North Shore Artists' Guild. Maggie was approached by International Artist magazine to write an article and step-by-step demo which has been published in their April/May 2016 issue.

Maggie’s first love is landscapes, but her love of nature in all its forms is evident in most of her work. She is also increasingly attracted by still life.

Maggie’s artistic role models are mentor, Dene Croft, and world-class hyper-realist, Lorn Curry, whose generosity and encouragement have lured her into the fascinating world of still life painting.
